Since the purchase of Goucher’s Maryland property in the 1920’s, the school’s equestrian program has grown into one of the best in the country. With that success has come the need to revamp and augmenting the barns, exercise rings, staff housing and storage facilities. In 2016, as part of a re-envisioning of the master plan, Blackburn Architects was hired to work with architects Grimm + Parker to redesign the school’s equestrian facilities. The project includes: Two new 7,200 sf barns, new indoor arena with observation space, new 3,600 sf administration classroom building, new round pen, new equestrian staff housing, and service structures.
