Through individual and combined experiences, the staff of Blackburn Architects has a special knowledge of and sensitivity to the historic significance of existing buildings, and a portfolio of renovation and preservation projects that proves our ability to marry new technology and new functions within an existing context.

Blackburn Architects draws on its years of experience adapting buildings for new functions and modern uses and provides its clients with creative, comprehensive solutions to unique challenges posed by renovation and adaptive reuse projects. Our approach has been higlighted in top publications including The Washington Post and Washington Spaces and our special emphasis to detail is displayed throughout all aspects of our work. A recent project was the recipient of a 2006 American Institute of Architects Washington Chapter Merit Award for Historic Resources and the 2007 Southern Living Home Award for Historic Restoration.
